Head Scratchin’

Progress lost

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

Today we had a fun outing for work and I decided to take my camera with me. Didn’t get any decent shots because I’ve forgotten how to work a camera beyond pressing the button that makes the camera make the clicking noise and then having an image magically appear in the screen thingamy on the back. I consider it lucky that there were times I actually remembered to remove the lens cap before trying to take a pic. And then I got myself all in a panic because the shutter wouldn’t release, so I put the camera back in the car and gave it up for the day.

When I got home, I pulled out my D80 Field Guide and reminded myself how to change my White Balance, ISO, and Exposure. And it turns out there’s nothing wrong with the shutter. Trying to take a picture with the camera set to “A” or “M” will mess you up like that, especially when you’re meant to be in “P.”

So. There’s that.

Business Blogging Tip #1

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Make sure your site has a functioning layout (in more than ONE browser, since the majority of the Internet still use IE) and that it’s easy to find the blog’s main content: the POSTS.

This is a tip I discovered myself when clicking on a blog post title in the Good Blogs Widget in my sidebar, and coming upon a site that had a header image and one looooong sidebar (including a list of about 15 email addresses for ONE person? WTF?) and no post.

This kind of stuff makes me laugh.

“Nicole Kidman has denied she has ever had plastic surgery. The Australian actress insists her face is all natural. “To be honest, I am completely natural. I have nothing in my face or anything,” she says.”

Is that a trout pout of Melanie Griffith-esque proportions I see before me? How about that ultra bleached hair, and whatever happened to her freckles? I’m not even going to mention the botox, that’s a tired, tired subject already.

Seriously, I hate it when celebrities treat people with seeing eyes like they’re stupid. I don’t care when people get something done, but for crying out loud, don’t lie about it.
