As I start planning my living room redo, I’m thinking of going along with my current beach obsession, and in fact am trying to follow the colors of the pictures of Destin that I included in that post: pale sand, the red of the roses (I’m trying to imagine the red cabinet from the previous post up against the above paint samples), and any of those lovely shades of turquoise or blue in the water. I’m thinking about blue for the walls so I stuck some paint chips on my living room wall this morning. It’s a tough decision because we don’t get a lot of natural light in my living room since we’re surrounded by trees and could use another window or two in this room, so darker colors on the walls are a bad idea. My problem with using the lighter blues is that I don’t want the color to feel too icy - soothing and quiet, yes, but not cold. I’ve been watching how the paint chips look at various points through the day, and nothing’s really singing out to me, although at the moment it’s close between the Dutch Boy sample on the bottom, and the Powder Blue, top color on the card on the middle right.
(Oh, and no, I don’t know how to focus my camera, why do you ask? )
(Actually, yes I do, I’m just apparently not very good at it.)
Hm. I’ve just realized that I’m thinking about doing my living room in what amounts to red, white, and blue, and that could be a little…I don’t know, kitschy? So, yes, trying to avoid the kitsch as well. Good Lord, this is hard.
