At the risk of jinxing myself…

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

Life seems to be settling back down and I have reclaimed a few quiet hours a day for myself. Yup, I’m greedy. The heater is working and David is back in school. El Fiance’s biggest troubles in the Middle East are the extreme dislike his allergies have for the dust and dirt over there and the repeated testing of his intolerance for bullshit. So long as those are his biggest problems I say we count ourselves lucky.

Tonight the kid and I are venturing down to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for an informational meeting about the People to People Student Ambassador Program. He’s been invited to be a part of a 20 day trip through Europe this summer and while we are both thrilled with the idea, the cost is a little prohibitive. If David wants to go he’ll have to get on the ball and do some fundraising, ideas for which have been suggested on the website, but having never been through anything like this myself I’m not sure how best to help him with that. Hopefully we’ll get more info about that this evening.

When my cousin was takeing a school trip to D.C. his dad was able to get a fundraiser set from Little Ceaser (I think, it was a pizza company) just for his own trip expences. Also, you can make him work for it with fundraising; car washes, yard work, selling his old things on e-bay, yard sale etc.

Yeah, there are some ideas on the website and he can apply for scholarships and stuff. We’ve got plenty here we can sell on ebay, not specifically David’s things, but lots of ther stuff. I just don’t feel like doing the work for it since I don’t get to go myself! :P
