My Bucket List

March7

Inspired by Maggie, but goal-centric list-making seems to be sweeping the blogiverse in general lately. Don’t know how many items will make it onto this list, but we’ll see how it goes. In no particular order:

  1. Make a tasty pot of chili not involving a premade seasoning packet.
  2. Sit on that Japanese Bridge and dangle my feet over Monet’s Water Lily Pond.
  3. Get down to a single digit clothing size and stay there.
  4. Read a biography of Marie Antoinette that doesn’t put me to sleep.
  5. Go back to Scotland.
  6. Plant my own strawberries.
  7. Watch my kid accomplish some items on his own bucket list.
  8. Own a Victorian style home, complete with claw-foot tub, window seat, and sparkling crystal chandelier.
  9. Learn how to use my camera.
  10. Learn conversational French.
  11. Own and run a gift shop.
  12. Host Christmas at my house with all my family in attendance.
  13. Write the story involving the characters that have occupied a particular corner of my brain the last few years.
  14. Learn to sing again.
  15. Learn some Latin Ballroom dance.
  16. Live in a Historical District somewhere.
  17. Eat Sushi in Japan.
  18. Ride in a gondola in Venice.
  19. Cruise the Greek Isles.
  20. Make jewelry.
  21. Walk on the Great Wall of China.
  22. Go to a blogger’s conference and meet some of the people whose writing I read.
  23. Financial security and then some.
  24. Stay a night in Dracula’s Castle.
  25. See the Northern Lights.

Am not surprised at how many of these involve travel, learning something new, or getting back into things that I once enjoyed. I think this is a good start, perhaps I’ll add to this list later on. Anyone want to chip in? Tell me some of yours, or make your own list and leave me a link in the comments.

Last I heard you could buy Dracula’s castle. I can’t imagian its that much for a castle giving all the curses and such. Also have you tried “Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution”
By: Caroline Weber. It’s still long with many notes, but its based around fashion so it might be more readable for you. I wrote a short report on it here. http://weirdnewsbni.blogspot.com/2007/05/actual-report-of-book-queen-of-fashion.html

Also, making chili is an easy one. The premade packet it just a mix of all the spices you would put in it anyway, (chilie powder, onion, cumin, garlic, salt.) per-mixed. You could do that one today. The weather is right for it.

Yeah, I saw that story about Dracula’s Castle being on the market. It might not be going for much but I’m sure I can’t afford it! I think the curses and folklore would only add to the price tag, myself.

I might try that Marie Antoinette book…I’ve been reading “Marie Antoinette” by Hilaire Belloc for months now and I’m not even halfway through yet. The first third f the book is all about the politics of why her mother wanted an alliance with France and all that. But it was first published in 1909, so you can imagine the type of language used to tell the story. I’m not unintelligent but it’s a difficult read, to me.

I made chili Friday night – it’s hard to make a pot everyone really likes because El Boyfriend prefers chili without beans, so I’m all “So you just want ground beef, tomato sauce, and seasoning then. Bleargh, boring!” But then I don’t like some of the stuff that traditionally goes into chili, like peppers and chunks of tomatoes and stuff, so I’m going to have to find my own version, I think. Won’t be making dinner again until Wednesday and Thursday nights – I’ve got doubles all week except for those two days, when I’m off. *le sigh* I swear they’re trying to kill me.
